We’re gearing up for our fourth annual PAMM Art of the Party, presented by Valentino, on Saturday, March 17, for a night of delectable culinary collaborations by STARR Catering Group and Chef Michelle Bernstein. They will team up to craft unforgettable dining experiences fit for any palate. Foodies, no need to fret. There’s still time to purchase your tickets here.

Michelle Bernstein is a Miami native and James Beard Foundation Award-winning chef, who has brought the Magic City such gems as Michy’s, Sra. Martinez, and Crumb on Parchment over the years. She is known for her big smile, warm hospitality, and her own special way of incorporating Latin flavors in her cooking. As one of the most iconic and influential chefs in the region, she spoke with us about Miami cuisine, her influences, and what she’s cooking up for the big night.

Check out our interview with Chef Bernstein below.

What defines Miami cuisine?
The best thing about Miami cuisine is that we have no restrictions, no rules and no lines drawn…We just have to cook with flavor, brightness, passion and happiness.

What defines Miami art?
Same thing; anything goes!

What will you be serving our guests?
Amongst a huge menu with lots of great recipes, I’m including people’s favorites from Michy’s [such as] croquetas, ceviche, and short ribs, [as well as favorites] from Sra. Martinez [that include] fried artichokes and patatas bravas.

How do your roots and background influence your food?
Totally! You can find touches of my Latin heritage and Eastern European touches all over it! My love for lime, chilies, dill, chicken soup, and corn!
