Though summer in Miami feels year-round, the season is coming to a close, and our summer interns are concluding their work here at PAMM. These past months, PAMM’s Museum Management Internship Program, supported by Citi Foundation, as well as our partnership with FIU has brought many talented students into the museum! Let’s hear what these interns have to say on their experience at PAMM!

SARAH DIAZ | CITI FOUNDATION CURATORIAL INTERN

What’s your favorite exhibition or piece on view right now and why?

My favorite work is Sans-Souci (This threshold between a dematerialized and a historicized body) by Firelei Báez. I love having that moment of connection when the figure’s gaze meets my own.

What has been your favorite PAMM internship project and why?

I think updating the CCI App tour has been my favorite project as it has given me the opportunity to personally meet with and interview artists, something I had never done before. Having those experiences as a foundation when I would later create texts for their artworks was so illuminating.

If you were to describe PAMM in one word, what would that word be?

Important.

ISABELLA PARK | CITI FOUNDATION HUMAN RELATIONS INTERN

What’s your favorite exhibition or piece on view right now and why?

My favorite artwork on view right now at PAMM is definitely Isla Venado by José Bedia. I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time looking at this painting when I visited the museum for the first time, and I found myself getting so lost in the details and concept. To me, Isla Venado invokes a mystery of supernatural debate that drives viewers to examine their surroundings in the distance more closely. I love it.

What has been your favorite PAMM internship project and why?

If I could say everything, I would. My absolute favorite project, however, has been the work that I have done independently and collaboratively on the onboarding presentation we use for new hires. This presentation is the first formal touch point for new PAMM staff members to get acclimated with the museum, and I feel so lucky to have been able to make significant changes and propose revisions that will make this transition more seamless and effective.

If you were to describe PAMM in one word, what would that word be?

Passionate.

FERNANDA VALDEZ | CITI FOUNDATION MARKETING INTERN

What’s your favorite exhibition or piece on view right now and why?

My favorite exhibition is currently Jason Seife’s Coming to Fruition. It’s a beautiful exhibition filled with pieces that blend Seife’s two worlds, his cuban and syrian heritage. I am really drawn to the story of his early career working in graphic design and building his career off designing album covers and merchandise for those in the music industry. I love his paintings and think the exhibition is amazing.

What has been your favorite PAMM internship project and why?

So much of what I get to do at PAMM is so fun and exciting, its hard to choose! I work very closely with PAMM Shop and PAMM Portraits and get to have a lot of creative liberty with what I produce  for each. My favorite projects would be creating content for both platforms and expanding PAMM’s reach in the process.

If you were to describe PAMM in one word, what would that word be?

Family.

FARINNA IZQUIERDO | CITI FOUNDATION RETAIL E-COMMERCE & MARKETING INTERN

What’s your favorite exhibition or piece on view right now and why?

My favorite exhibit on view right now is Leandro Erlich’s Liminal. I really like how you can immerse yourself into the spaces he replicated and lose that sense of time. I was also surprised by some of the ones he identified that I’d never thought of before, like reflections on a rainy street or looking outside your city apartment window.

What has been your favorite PAMM internship project and why?

My favorite PAMM internship project has been spearheading the “PAMM Shop Favorites” reels. I came up with this idea because I wanted to find a way to get the Retail team more involved in the behind-the-scenes work at PAMM, so I thought why not give each of them space to formally introduce themselves. It’s been really fun getting to know each of them better & hearing what their favorites are!

If you were to describe PAMM in one word, what would that word be?

Inspiring.

ANA ROSADO | FIU GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERN

What’s your favorite exhibition or piece on view right now and why?

My favorite exhibition on view at the moment is Marcela Cantuaria’s The South American Dream. From the moment I stepped foot in that room I was immersed into a world of vivid colors and beautiful works ranging from paintings to textiles and even ceramics. Her works have an ethereal essence to them that just attracts viewers in and I personally love that about this exhibition!

What has been your favorite PAMM internship project and why?

I would have to say that my favorite project was probably working on the promotional materials for the Joan Didion exhibition opening. As a design intern, this was essentially my first big project where I assisted with the creation of digital content for the marketing team to promote the exhibition opening.

If you were to describe PAMM in one word, what would that word be?

Comforting.

GABRIEL TUA | FIU EDUCATION INTERN

What’s your favorite exhibition or piece on view right now and why?

Helen Lundeberg’s Studio-Afternoon, 1958-59, is currently my favorite exhibition piece part of the Joan Didion exhibition, What She Means. This is currently my favorite piece due to the new perspective it provides through simple composition.

What has been your favorite PAMM internship project and why?

My favorite project at PAMM has been cataloguing the books in the library, Each book I have been able to add to the digital catalogue has provided me knowledge of new artist and pieces.

If you were to describe PAMM in one word, what would that word be?

Welcoming.
